Wrath & Remnant Ministry

Resources for those who trust Scripture as written in all its glory.

Our principle offering is the LightMind LLM, which exists to reach modern audiences where they are. Please take care, no tool is perfect, and LightMind will make mistakes, or omit information, or hallucinate, like all LLMs do. Always double check against Scripture. No tool can ever replace real life Christian interaction and teaching in your local church.

LightMind has three known notable quirks:

  • Sometimes it forgets periods between sentences or other minor punctuation mistakes. This is a model artifact.
  • It will, on occasion, decide to talk about tea instead of Scripture. This is a personality artifact.
  • Like all LLMs, LightMind is highly suggestible - for instance, if you ask it "Does God give me prophetic dreams?" it will tell you no, however if you ask it to interpret your prophetic dream, it may not inform you that you did not have a prophetic dream.

Why should you use this over ChatGPT or copilot or any other service?

  • As a result of both fine-tuning a well regarded open weights model on Christian resources from throughout the ages, a well-crafted system prompt, and various other techniques, the model adheres strictly to perspectives that treat Scripture as God's word.
  • It's easy to test: ask chatGPT and LightMind the same question - beta testers have consistently chosen LightMind's responses over chatGPT's (4o and 3.5).
  • ChatGPT relies upon the entire internet, and treats all sources the same. This is the main point: public, non-specific models do not hold God's word in higher regard than any other information, and are influenced by all sorts of perspectives.
  • Given current funding and technology limits, conversations are presently limited to about 10,000 characters (maybe 2-3 pages, roughly, of text). Most models lose context after this window anyway, though.

Check our twitter for updates and status information: LightMind Twitter

Is LightMind refusing to start a new conversation? This happens sometimes in incognito mode. Send the message "new conversation" (exactly, all lowercase, no punctuation) to force a reset.

Though LightMind is free for everyone and has touched many lives, that does not mean it is free to operate. Quite the opposite, actually: LLM hosting and inference, vector database, postgres database, website server... these costs add up.

If you get value out of LightMind, consider how your support could expand its reach and impact. Even a couple bucks go a long way, and means coming alongside W&R Ministries to expand our goal of helping everyone know Scripture and God better!

We ask that you prayerfully consider adding LightMind to your monthly charitable donations.

Donations are strictly used for routine costs and outreach/advertisement for LightMind.

Statement of Faith and Mission

The Nicene Creed

We take the Nicene Creed as an acceptable summary of the faith, bearing in mind that baptism refers to a baptism by the Holy Spirit and apostolic refers to the teaching of the Apostles, not apostolic succession:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Five Solas

The Five Solas are a summary of the foundations of Scriptural faith. They are:

  • Scripture Alone
  • Grace Alone
  • Faith Alone
  • Christ Alone
  • For God's Glory Alone

Here are verses from Scripture in defense of these pillars of the faith, take care that entire books have been written about them though:

Romans 3:4 (part): "Let God be true, and every human being a liar." Only the word of God is trustworthy. Men are fallible. Some people take this to mean that this gives everyone a license to interpret Scripture however they wish and they're just as right as anybody else about it. That's ah... that's not what it means, and such an assertion is foolish.

Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Romans 3:28: "For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law." Does this mean you can act however you want but as long as you say "yeah man Christ is God n stuff," you go to heaven? No.

John 14:6: "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

1 Corinthians 10:31: "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (See also Isaiah 43:6–7.)

First Purpose

LightMind exists to defend the faith of the faithful. 1 Peter 3:15 (part): "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that is in you. But do this with gentleness and respect." (Also Colossians 4:6.) We believe it is the duty of every Christian to understand the revealed word of God as best as they are able, to defend the church and themselves from the world and false teachers. Again, I don't mean to make you a better arguer. I mean that to be a non-believer is a hard, hopeless, lost existence, (in America, for instance, just look up the rising suicide rates among the younger generations) and we must be prepared to speak into those lives and their questions.

Second Purpose

LightMind exists to deepen the faith of the faithful. Ephesians 4:12-14: "...for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, ... so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ[.]" We believe that the more you understand Scripture, the more faithful you become, the more you recognize God's glory and beauty and your own depravity, and the closer to him you get. Have you ever finished a Bible Study or a read-through and just realized the vast, oceanic depths of God that lay before you?

LightMind exists to inform Christians first, who should then be evangelizing. We are not interested in making a debate bot to entertain or annoy perpetually online reddit dwellers.

Of course, if you were looking for information about me, Wrath and Remnant Ministry's founder, who LightMind will dutifully identify as Yale Waller, I'm a senior data scientist and have been working in various apologetics ministries for about fifteen years. I live in the United States, though I've traveled a fair bit and lived in Germany for a spell. I have a wife, two kids, a dog, two parrots, a horse (my wife's)... and fifty thousand bees. (Two hives.) My favorite books of the Bible are the Psalms, Isaiah, and John's gospel. (It used to be Luke's.)

This is my goal: I want to help you understand and apply Scripture better, and in the doing know and love and understand God more and more. This will hopefully make us all into better messengers for Him.
